CoworkYYC

About us

So... who are we?

We are three residents of Ramsay; Calgary's most creative neighbourhood.

Quinton Rafuse

Quinton is a practicing Professional Geologist. He has worked as a petroleum geologist for over 10 years and currently holds the position of vice-president geosciences for a junior oil and gas firm in Calgary. He brings his business and finance skills to CoworkYYC. He was selected as one of Oilweek’s Rising Stars of 2008 for his business conduct and work in the community. As President, Quinton will advise CoworkYYC on matters of business, finance and marketing. He will remain employed full-time in the oil and gas sector.

Jeff Gibson

Jeffrey Gibson is an award-winning freelance graphic designer recognised by the Art Directors Club of Canada, Applied Arts magazine and the Anvil Awards.

After graduating with a degree in visual communications from the Alberta College of Art and Design, he began his career working as a graphic designer and art director for fashion-marketing-PR firm Yellow Door in London, UK.

Returning to Canada, Jeffrey worked in the agency-world before starting Yard Design Inc. in 2005. His portfolio includes larger clients such as the City of Calgary, University of Calgary and Glenbow Museum, as well as many small and medium sized organisations.

Nik Thierry

Nik graduated from Portsmouth University, England, in Art, Media & Design, specialising in web and graphic design. He has worked for the last 10 years at various agencies, dealing with a select group of global bluechip clients, including Shell, GlaxoSmithKline, British Airways and Garrard Jewellers.

Nik arrived in Canada from England in March 2009 and continues to work as a freelancer with the same group of clients from the UK.

Having come from London, where office space is expensive and desk rental is common, he was surprised to find there was no dedicated coworking space.

Why the YYC?

YYC is Calgary's airport code airport code - it's become shorthand for talking about our great city (it's become widely used as the hashtag on Twitter).
